We have all heard the story of Jonah and the whale. It’s a story we grew up learning and singing songs about. We usually remember the story like this: “Jonah ran from God and God sent a storm. The sailors threw Jonah overboard, and a giant fish swallowed him. Jonah spent three days in the belly of the whale as punishment. When the fish spit him out, he traveled to Nineveh, and proclaimed the word of God. Lots of people were saved, and Jonah was angry at a worm.” While much of this is true, there are many valuable details missing. What if I told you that the story of Jonah was less about Jonah, and more about God?
